Remove C2PA metadata from images

C2PA (the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) defines a signed manifest that records how an image was made or edited. It is attached to the file, not baked into the pixels.

What Content Credentials contain

A C2PA manifest can record the tool that produced or edited an image, timestamps, and whether AI was involved. Because it is a file-level container, re-encoding the image without the manifest removes it.

Removing it does not alter the image

Unstamped strips the C2PA manifest along with other removable provenance metadata and verifies the displayed pixels are byte-for-byte preserved after orientation normalization.

What it does not do

Removing Content Credentials does not remove pixel-level watermarks such as SynthID, and does not guarantee how a platform will treat the image.

Unstamped removes removable file metadata (including C2PA Content Credentials). It does not remove pixel-level signals such as SynthID and cannot guarantee a specific AI-label outcome on any platform.
